China Tianying’s Hanoi WtE Plant Obtains COD
2023-04-11

Recently, China Tianying's waste-to-energy project in Hanoi, Vietnam has successfully passed the tests and inspections of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Construction and EVNEPTC, and has obtained the Commercial Operation Date (COD). The Hanoi project is a very large overseas WtE project invested, built and operated successfully by CNTY. The commissioning of the project not only marks a milestone in our overseas business expansion, but is also another excellent practical example of Chinese private enterprises responding to the One Belt One Road to go abroad.

The Hanoi waste-to-energy project is located in Hanoi's Sok San district, about 35 kilometres from the city centre. The plant can treat 4,000 tonnes of solid waste per day and, based on a daily electricity consumption of 6 kilowatts per household, the electricity generated daily can be used by 240,000 households for one day, making it the second largest waste-to-energy plant in the world to be built in one go.

Vương Đình Huệ, Member of the Politburo and Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, spoke highly of the Hanoi WtE Power Plant. The plant is a key project for Hanoi, a model for Vietnamese provinces and ministries to learn about sustainable development, and a demonstration of Vietnam's reform and opening up to the world. The Silk Road spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit is at the core of the project.
